Wow, that was some snow storm we had! I got out on my cross country skis and enjoyed it. I hope that your family got out and enjoyed it too. Now though we are back to learning. If your student is in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade, they brought home a copy of the reading SOL test from last year. I ask them to work on it over the snow break. Many of them have turned the papers in for extra credit points and we will be giving each of them a small prize. If your child has not finished the packet, they are welcome to finish any time and then turn it in for extra credit. At some point, I will send home the math SOL for practice too. The SOL questions are asked in very challenging ways, so even if your child knows the material, the way it is asked might stump them. Thus the more practice the better.
I am excited to report that we have gotten a new sound system that is being set up in the gym/multipurpose room. We are also getting a new back curtain for that stage. Our first show on the stage with the new sound system will be the 2nd & 3rd graders for the school on Monday Feb. 29 during the day and then in the evening for parents.
We will be hosting primary voting here on Tuesday, Mar. 1. Voting will take place in the gym. Voters will enter directly into the gym and will not be allowed in any other area of the school. There will be parking places marked off by the gym, reserved for people coming to vote.
As always, please contact me if you have any issues or questions about your child.
