The cold and snowy days of winter are soon coming to an end and our boys and girls at H. M. Pearson are all excited about warmer weather and exciting activities. We will celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss during the first week of March in typical "Seuss" style with plenty of celebrations and listening to all of our favorite books written by this amazing author! What a terrific way to kick-off springtime!
The Tooth Fairy makes a visit with our kindergarten, first and second graders on Thursday, March 12th! Everyone is getting very excited in anticipation of meeting her. H. M. Pearson Elementary School will participate in the State-wide Tornado Drill on Thursday, March 17th and Spring Picture Day is planned for Thursday, March 19th. Spring Break Week is scheduled for March 30th - April 3rd.
With most of the winter weather behind us, we ask your help in encouraging your children to come to school all day - every day. Regular attendance in elementary school sets up a good pattern for your child's entire school career. Show your child that school comes first by trying to keep days off for illnesses and family emergencies. Also, try to schedule routine doctor and dentist appointments for after school or over school breaks.
With warmer weather approaching comes spring sports and activities to keep everyone busy. Here are a few ways you can support learning for your children while also managing their busy schedules:
Spend a few minutes every evening looking over handouts your child brings home. Fill out any necessary forms to return the next day.
Tell your child's teachers right away if you feel he or she isn't understanding an instructional concept or project. Working together will help your child succeed.
Make sure our teachers know you appreciate their efforts by sending an occasional thank-you note or a kind e-mail.
Know you are always welcome at H. M. Pearson Elementary!
